All About Morzine

Morzine is a charming and traditional village with the chalets built in
the Savoyard style with wooden facades, carved balconies and slate
covered roofs. Although the village may have existed for at least a
thousand years tourism only arrived rather more recently when the first
hotel, The Grand, opened in 1925.
In 1934 the opening of the Pleney cable car made getting
up the mountain to go downhill easy. After Pleney, the Pointe de
Nyon was introduced as a second ski area and then in 1966 the
futuristic resort of Avoriaz opened. When Super Morzine opened in
the 1980’s a lift link between Morzine and Avoriaz was created.

Today, Morzine is one of the best loved resorts in the
Alps. It has retained its original charm and traditions and now blends
this with modern technology.
